Between tradition and rock’n’rollité, AKARA, who plays both the electric guitar and the koto, returns to Japan Expo.
Let’s Rock. Akara is a three-member band with a very atypical trait: in addition to hard rock-inspired guitar riffs, they use traditional Japanese instruments for the most effective hybrid sound.
Each member uses his or her 100% Japanese instrument: a Koto (string), a Shinobue (bamboo flute), a Nokan (a flute of No), and a Tsuzumi (drum).
The band formed in 2014 around the multilingual singer MIKIKO and released their latest EP “World of Revenge” in 2023.
Japan Expo had the joy of presenting to its delirious crowds this group with a strong identity proclaiming itself as “J-trad Rock”.
The festival is an unannounced opportunity for the group to take over generic anime cults.
